AGNÈS ANDRÉSY specializes in leaders and networks in China.
She is known for publishing in-depth works on the Chinese political system, which focus on those in power and their networks. She is credited with popularizing the term “red princelings”, which refers to the children of dignitaries who played a key role in post-Mao and post-Deng Xiaoping China.
Today, she divides her time between Beijing and Hong Kong, where she provides consulting and strategic intelligence services on China.
From 2003 to 2009, she headed CHINARCANES, a confidential newsletter focused on Chinese power brokers and networks of influence.
Since 2025, the CHINARCANES newsletter has been published again on a bimonthly basis.
In addition to her books, she has written articles on Chinafrica, as well as on Sino-Central Asian relations, for the journals Études and Asia Europe Journal, in collaboration with Gaël Raballand, a research associate at the Institut Choiseul and an economist at the World Bank.
